However, the oil marketing company IOCL (Indian Oil) has understood this apprehension of the customers and has given a lot of information about it, which will also make you free from worry.

IOC has informed on its website that all LPG cylinders are made with a special type of steel and protective coating and their manufacturing is under BIS 3196. Only those cylinder manufacturers are allowed to manufacture them, which are approved by the Chief Controller of Explosives (CCOE) and have a BIS license.

Know about the expiry date
Although this circular is of the year 2007, but it has also been given on the website of IOC that since the expiry date is of those goods which are going to perish at a particular time. Talking about LPG cylinders, their manufacture comes out according to many external and internal standards, so in a way, they do not have any expiry date and only testing is done on time.

Know this from the marking or code of the cylinder
Time is fixed for statutory testing and painting of LPG cylinders and it is written like a code on them that what will be the next date on which they will be sent for testing. For example, A 2022 means that in the first quarter (April-June) of the year 2022, they will be sent for testing. Similarly, the cylinders on which B 2022 is written will be sent for re-testing between the second quarter of 2022 (July-September). Similarly, C 2022 means that in the third quarter (October-December) of the year 2022, they will be sent for testing. The cylinders on which D 2022 is written will be sent for re-testing between the fourth quarter of the year 2022 (January-March).
