Producer Juhi Parekh Mehta became the youngest Gujarati woman to walk the red carpet at the 75th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. She is the co-producer of Safed, the directorial debut of Sandeep Singh, who has produced critically acclaimed films such as Mary Kom, Aligarh, Sarabjit and Jhund. The first look of the film, starring Meera Chopra and Abhay Verma, has been unveiled at Cannes by legendary Academy Award winner AR Rahman on 21 May 2022.

Sharing her experience of making her dream come true at the Cannes Film Festival, she said, “As a kid, I was always fascinated by the glam glitz and divas on the red carpet. I remember reading fashion magazines and imagining how leading ladies walk the red carpet. Today, it has been a real experience! It is an honor to walk the same red carpet that has been walked by Tom Cruise, Leo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone.’

She further said- ‘I am a true blue Gujarati girl who has taken Thepla and Chunda to Cannes as well, and I am proud that I am the youngest and probably the only woman in my community to be selected and given to them. This honor was given.

Sharing her experience of unveiling the poster with AR Rahman, Juhi said, “I have been the biggest fan of AR Rahman sir and I am in awe of him. It is an absolute honor that she graced and graced the film launch at Cannes with her. Presence I am eternally grateful to my directors Sandeep Singh and Vinod Bhanushali sir that I got the opportunity to associate with Safed.

Talking about the film Safed, which marks the directorial debut of Mary Kom producer Sandeep Singh, she says, “Safee 2 will showcase the reality of the world that mainstream society has no clue about: young widows.
