Income Tax News: Taxpayers who have not yet done e-verification of their Income Tax Return for the assessment year 2020-21, they can complete the process of verification by 28 February 2022 (28 February). can do. The Income Tax Department has extended the deadline for verification, giving relief to the taxpayers.

Know what is e-verification
As per the law, filing of Income Tax Return (ITR) electronically without digital signature requires verification of Aadhaar OTP, netbanking, code sent through demat account, pre-validated bank account or ATM. This verification is required to be done within 120 days of filing the income tax return.

E-verification is necessary to complete the return filing process
Apart from this, taxpayers can also do the verification by sending a physical copy of the ITR to the Centralized Processing Center-Central Processing Unit (CPC) office in Bangalore. If the verification process is not completed, it is assumed that the return has not been filed.

The Income Tax Department has given information about this by tweeting yesterday i.e. on December 28 and the detailed details about it can be seen by going to the link given in the tweet. At the end of this notification, it has been said that if the process of e-verification is not completed by 28 February 2022, then action can be taken by the Income Tax Department. This information has been given jointly by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue and Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
