Dr. Sheetal Verma, Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, KGMU, said that “There is a lot of talk about the Omicron variant. It has been given a variant of concern by WHO. , Cvarity and it is protected by vaccine, nothing like this is documented anywhere. Just, some cases have come in South Africa.
In the rest, it has not been seen in any country that Omicron variant cases are increasing or patients are increasing. And in that it was found that 32 mutations have been observed. It is too early to say anything about it. Because, this news has spread very quickly to the people, so panic is being created.
‘Nobody knows anything about this virus’
Dr. Sheetal Verma said, “Nothing is known about it yet. Nothing is known about this virus by any Scientific Committee, South African Committee and WHO. The news spread very quickly about it without any basis. Apart from this, WHO also put it in the Variant of Concern very early.
He told that a virus was found in sequencing. After which the WHO issued an advisory. Whereas, till now no researcher in the world knows whether this virus is dangerous or not.
