Is Sachin’s record the reason for Kohli to leave the T20 captaincy? Veteran cricketer hinted

Since the announcement of Virat Kohli leaving the captaincy of Team India after T20 World Cup and RCB after IPL 2021, many veteran cricketers of the world are giving their reaction. Former Australia chinaman bowler Brad Hogg has also reacted to Virat Kohli’s decision to step down from the captaincy. Hogg believes that Virat wants to focus on master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s record of centuries, which is why he has decided to step down from the captaincy of Team India and RCB in T20s. Hogg believes that Kohli understands that if he wants to make his name in the history of cricket, then he will have to improve his record in Tests even more.

On his YouTube channel, Hogg said, “The bigger reason for Kohli to leave the captaincy is something else. I think he wants to focus more on Test matches now. He wants to lead Team India in Tests and ODIs but his Eyes will be on another record. That is Tendulkar’s crossing the mark of 100 international hundreds.”

Kohli wants to improve his own record

At the same time, Brad Hogg said, “Talking about the century in One Day International, Kohli has 43 centuries in his name at this time and he is very close to Sachin’s record. Although he has only 27 centuries in Tests so far. While Sachin He has a record of 51 centuries in 200 Tests. I think Kohli now wants to concentrate in Test cricket and his goal is to reach Sachin’s century figures. Also I think he is now as a modern great. Want to establish myself and that’s a big reason to leave the captaincy.”

Let us tell you that 32-year-old Kohli has not scored a single century since November 2019. He scored his last century in the Day-Night Test against Bangladesh. Talking about T20 International, Kohli has 3159 runs in 90 matches at a strike rate of 139.04. 94 not out is his best score in this format.
