IPS officer Satish Chandra Verma sacked

New Delhi. Senior Gujarat cadre officer Satish Chandra Verma was sacked a month before retirement. He also headed the CBI investigation in the famous Ishrat Jahan encounter case of Gujarat. According to sources, the grounds for his dismissal include speaking to a media which affected the international relations of the country.
The Central Government has issued an order to sack Satish Chandra Verma on August 30. According to the information, the order for the dismissal of Satish Chandra Verma from the government was placed before the Delhi High Court, where Verma had challenged several disciplinary proceedings against him.
The central government had demanded from the court to implement the order of dismissal from September 1. According to sources, the court allowed the government to pass the final order, but at the same time said that the order would not be implemented without the court’s approval. Finally on 7 September, the court allowed the central government to implement the dismissal order. The Court also determined that it cannot be enforced before September 19, to give the complainant time to challenge the order against him in the court.
Significantly, Satish Chandra Verma is a 1986 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre. He was due to retire on 30 September 2022. (IANS)
