Trinamool Congress leader arrested by CBI

Bolpur, Central government’s investigative agency CBI has arrested another big leader of Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress. The CBI on Thursday arrested Trinamool Congress’s Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal from his residence. Anubrata Mandal has been arrested for not cooperating in the investigation of cattle smuggling case. Significantly, recently, the leader of Mamta’s party and senior state government minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

However, regarding Mandal’s arrest, an official said that a CBI team reached the house of TMC’s Birbhum district president in the early hours of Thursday and arrested him after questioning that lasted for about an hour. A CBI official said- We have arrested them for not cooperating in the investigation of cattle smuggling scam. He said Mandal was taken to the hospital for a health check-up. The CBI had called Mandal for questioning twice in the last few days but he did not attend the inquiry citing ill health.
