Investors are now booking profits at higher levels, due to which the market has declined.
Stock Market Update : The decline in the stock market for the last three days continued even today. The Indian stock market also closed with a fall on the last trading day of the week. Mumbai Stock Exchange’s index Sensex and Nifty opened with gains in the morning. Sensex reached 61,420 points, Nifty also had a one-time gain of 136 points but profit-booking returned in the market at upper levels. At the end of trading today, the Sensex fell by 101 points to 60,821 and the Nifty closed 63 points down at 18,114.90.

Banking, real estate and financial sector stocks saw a rise. Housing finance company HDFC closed at 2903 with a gain of 2.10 percent, while Kotak Mahindra Bank rose 1.29 percent to 2171, IndusInd Bank rose 1.01 percent to close at Rs 1196.40. Cement stocks saw a rise. Shree Cement gained Rs 119.50 to Rs 27,738 and UltraTech Cement rose Rs 20.60 to Rs 7149.60.

Hindalco, Coal India, Tata Motors and ITC saw a fall in the shares. Hindalco fell 4.72 per cent to Rs 470, Coal India fell 3.56 per cent to Rs 175.90, Tata Motors fell 3.37 per cent to Rs 490.90. On the other hand, ITC shares fell 3.31 per cent to close at Rs 236.60 on fears of increasing tax on tobacco products.
