Income Tax: Technical flaws are being seen in the new income tax e-filing portal for a long time. Many times instructions have been given by the Finance Minister to Infosys to remove these technical flaws, but despite this they could not be removed, after which now the Finance Ministry has summoned Infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh.
According to the Income Tax Department, the Finance Ministry has summoned Infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh on 23 August. Which will tell Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman why the discrepancies in the portal have not been resolved even after 2.5 months of the launch of the new e-filing portal. At the same time, from August 21, the portal itself is not available.

Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that she is constantly bringing attention to Infosys on this subject. She had said, “I have been constantly bringing this to Infosys (the company that developed the portal), and Nandan Nilekani (head of Infosys) has been sending me messages of assurance that they will solve the problems to a large extent in the next few days. Will solve it.’
problems remain
Earlier, the Finance Minister had said that the portal is working much better at this time than in June, but still some problems remain. He said that the Revenue Secretary is monitoring it on a weekly basis and in the next few weeks these lapses will be rectified to a great extent.
Let us tell you that the new income tax e-filing portal has been surrounded by many technical glitches since its launch on June 7. Infosys was awarded the contract in 2019 to develop the next generation income tax filing system. Such a system in which the time limit for return execution can be reduced from 63 days to one day and refund can be done quickly. The government has so far paid Rs 164.5 crore to Infosys between January 2019 and June 2021 for developing the portal.
