Another para-athlete from India, Vinod Kumar, won a bronze medal in the F52 category of disc throw, but his result is currently on hold.

Avni got tough competition from Chinese player

In this nine-round final match, Avni was defeated by a Chinese athlete. Si Zhang faced a tough competition. Zhang had secured the top position in the qualification round and was a strong contender for gold in this match. However, Avni defeated Zhang on the basis of her infallible marks and took the gold in her name. Avani scored a total of 249.6 in nine rounds with 52.0, 51.3, 21.6, 20.8, 21.2, 20.9, 21.2, 20.1, 20.5 which is a new Paralympic Games record.

Was a victim of road accident at the age of 11

Avni hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan. She had become a victim of a road accident when she was just 11 years old. In this accident, Avni was paralyzed due to spinal cord injury. In the women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event, Avni is ranked fifth in the world rankings.
