Indian Railways: In the coming days, more than 40 railway stations will be rejuvenated ‘state-of-the-art’, railway stations will be converted into malls

Indian Railways has always taken care of the convenience of its passengers. Along with this, they are constantly working on it to make the journey of their passengers better. In this sequence, in the coming days, the railway department can convert more than 40 railway stations into malls. Railways is preparing a package of 17,500 crores for this. With this amount, the stations will be modernized in such a way that they will look like mini malls. The station will be equipped with a rooftop plaza. It will also have shopping centres, food courts and restaurants. For this, the blueprint of Ritsar has also been prepared.

Let us tell you that this time the Railways has prepared the necessary funds before rolling the ball. The government has sanctioned Rs 17,500 crore for modernization of 46 stations in the first phase. Railways plans to redevelop over 300 stations out of a total of 9274 for its next phase. According to media reports, as shown in the railway blueprint, many stations will be connected by elevated road and some stations will have hotel rooms on the track with air concourse, food court and other facilities. For example, Gaya in Bihar The station will have a separate mall for the pilgrims. Similarly, there will be a dozen peaks representing 12 Jyotirlingas on the roof of Somnath station. Funds have been earmarked for similar rejuvenation of certain stations.

Under this scheme Rs 61 crore has been allocated for Kanyakumari and Rs 91 crore for Nellore. While Rs 960 crore has been allocated for Prayagraj and Rs 842 crore for major stations like Chennai. This blueprint is not just for railway modernization. But the plan gives an indication of how the Ministry of Railways looks at public-private partnerships. Railway administration sources say that now funds are being given to develop only the core stations area. After completion of this portion in the next 2-3 years, bids will be invited from private companies to develop more real estate in the existing areas.
