India Under-19 captain Yash Dhull’s performance in the ongoing ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 has made his coach Pradeep Kochhar proud. Pradeep Kochhar has trained Yash Dhul at the Airliner Academy at Bharti College, New Delhi. Yash is happy with the way he has led the Indian U-19 team and also said that Dhul will be the next MS Dhoni for India. In an exclusive interview with DNA, Kochhar reveals the top qualities, unknown facts about Yash Dhull and some similarities between the youngster and former India captain Dhoni. Firstly, being selected for India’s Under-19 team is a big achievement in itself and after reaching that level, he is doing so well for the Indian team by reaching the finals. Brilliant innings of 110 runs by Yash
Appreciating Yash Dhul’s scintillating 110 runs in the semi-finals of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, the boys led the way to a 96-run win against Australia, and Kochhar said it felt amazing. I watched the entire match and he played a brilliant innings. He seemed on a whole other level of touch. Rashid Khan also played well but Yash seems like a different category player and better than everyone else in the team. Further, talking about Dhul’s skills, Kochhar said that he is good at picking short-pitched balls and loves to play pull and cut shots. Overall, he is a talented batsman and most of all, he has a strong mindset. The India U-19 captain’s coach said Yash Dhul joined our academy at the age of 10 or 11 and his biggest strength is that he is regular, disciplined and dedicated.

Explaining how Dhul can make it to the Team India team, Kochhar said that the young batsman has to first make it to the Ranji team and then he has to perform well in the tournament to impress the selectors. Also, Kochhar claimed that Dhul is somewhat similar to Dhoni when it comes to captaincy. Kochhar told DNA that he is very calm on the field like Dhoni. He strategizes according to the situation. Most importantly, Yash is not aggressive and he will mature more in times to come. Even when setting up the field, he is very relaxed and places the fielders as per the need of the bowler. Yash is mentally strong, has a calm nature and does not talk much. If all goes well, Yash will be the next Dhoni in terms of captaincy. India is the most successful country to win the ICC Under-19 World Cup a record four times. They are just one win away from making it for a record fifth time as they take on England in the final, which is set to take place on Saturday (February 5). Meanwhile, Kochhar gave some important tips to the India U-19 team ahead of the summit clash. Keep playing like this and play with enthusiasm. Be comfortable and play together as a unit.
