The Andhra Pradesh government saw a 6.52 per cent decline in the sales of motorcycles in the state in the first six months of the current financial year. Now the state government is also confused about the decline in sales. During this time bike sales have increased in other states of the country. Andhra Pradesh is the only state in the country where the sale of motorcycles has decreased.

Sales up 26 percent across the country

In the first half of the financial year 2022-23, two-wheeler sales at the national level have grown at a rate of 26.05 per cent. Along with this, total vehicle sales in Andhra Pradesh also declined by 1.76 per cent in the first half. The state government and the people associated with the auto industry are shocked by this negative growth.

Chief Minister in tension

Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has taken this adverse trend seriously and directed the Transport Department to try to create a conducive environment for increasing the sales of vehicles. Officials of the Transport Department have started an initiative to find out the reason for the decline in sales by contacting the vehicle manufacturers for this. Through this, efforts will also be made to find the necessary solution and implement it. The state government is also going to organize a discussion session with all the vehicle manufacturers on this issue. One such meeting was proposed only on October 26 but was postponed due to the replacement of the principal secretary of the transport department.
