Income Tax Department’s new portal will be down for maintenance for 12 hours

Income Tax New Portal: If you are thinking of filing income tax return for Assessment Year 2021-22 by visiting the new tax filing portal of Income Tax Department on Saturday night or Sunday morning, then you may have to face difficulties. In fact, the income tax portal will not be available from Saturday night till Sunday morning. Maintenance work is to be done in the website in Income Tax Department, so the website will be down.

The ticker running on the new income tax portal reads in English that Alert: Website will not be accessible due to scheduled maintenance activity from Saturday 23rd Oct 10.00PM to Sunday 24th Oct 10.00AM IST”.

Which translates to Alert: Saturday 23 October at 10.00 pm to Sunday 24 October at 10.00 am, the website cannot be accessed due to scheduled maintenance activity.”

Due to non-functioning of the new Income Tax portal, you will not be able to login to the e-filing portal to file your IT Return. They themselves will not be able to register their digital signature for verification of tax returns, check or download information on Form 26AS.

Website is down already

But since the new portal of Income Tax Department was prepared, it can be closed for maintenance many times. Let us tell you that Infosys has prepared this website. There have also been many complaints regarding income tax’s e-filing portal incometax.gov.in. This portal of income tax was launched on 7 June 2021. In the initial phase, taxpayers were facing a lot of problems on the portal. But Infosys, the company that created the portal, has received a reprimand from the government and has seen improvement on the portal after the deadline.

31st December is the last date to file IT Returns

Earlier on August 23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, expressing displeasure over the irregularities in the new portal of Income Tax, had summoned the officials of Infosys to the Finance Ministry and instructed them to remove all the flaws in the new portal by September 15. In view of this problem of taxpayers, the government has announced to increase the last date of income tax return filing from 30 September to 31 December 2021.
