Light rain likely in Delhi, air quality ‘very poor’

New Delhi. The Air Quality Index in Delhi was recorded in the ‘very poor’ category on Tuesday morning for the fourth consecutive day. At the same time, experts of the Meteorological Department have expressed the possibility of light rain or drizzle during the day.

According to the data shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.2 degrees Celsius, which is three notches above average for this season.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the 24-hour average AQI in the national capital stood at 348 at around 9:15 am on Tuesday. The AQI was 339 on Sunday which increased to 354 on Monday. On Saturday it was 381.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, between 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, between 201 and 300 ‘poor’, between 301 and 400 as ‘very poor’ and 401 and above Between 500 is considered in the ‘severe’ category.

According to the Meteorological Department data, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 33 degrees Celsius on Monday, the highest since 2008 in the month of November.
The relative humidity stood at 92 per cent at 8.30 am, the IMD said. The Meteorological Department has predicted a partly cloudy day with the possibility of light rain or drizzle. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 32 degree Celsius. (Language)
