IAS officer suspended in Delhi

New Delhi, Despite handing over the investigation of Delhi’s new liquor policy to the CBI, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has adopted a strict stand. They suspended IAS officer AG Krishna on Saturday. Approved the suspension of Danix’s officer Anand Kumar Tiwari along with him and directed strict disciplinary action against them. Apart from these two, nine other officers and employees have also been suspended.

IAS officer AG Krishna was the excise commissioner when the new liquor policy was implemented, while Anand Kumar Tiwari was the deputy commissioner. Apart from these two officers, two other Danix officers who were then deputy commissioners have also been suspended. Other officials of the Excise Department have been suspended and strict disciplinary action has been directed against them.

According to informed sources in the Lieutenant Governor’s office, this decision has been taken by the Lieutenant Governor in view of the serious lapse in implementation of the excise policy on the part of the concerned officers. This includes, inter alia, irregularities in finalization of tenders and grant of post tender benefits to selected vendors. The Lieutenant Governor has taken this decision after the investigation report of Vigilance.

On the other hand, before this action, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday accused former Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal of changing his stand in the matter of opening liquor shops in unauthorized areas. He claimed that due to this his government had lost revenue of crores of rupees. Sisodia said in a press conference in Delhi that he has sent information related to this case to the CBI and said that the matter should be investigated.
