I am a Hindu, was and will remain – said Digvijay of Congress

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh made a big statement a few days ago regarding the increasing population on the basis of religion. Digvijay had said that the birth rate of Muslims is decreasing and by the year 2028, the birth rate of Hindus and Muslims will be equal. He also said that there is no threat from Muslims regarding the population. Talking about a report, he had told that the birth rate of Muslims has declined since 1951.

After this statement, the Congress leader said that during the Congress rule, pattas were distributed to the tribals, but now those lands are occupied by someone else. Shame on those people. Responding to the question on his population statement, Digvijay Singh said that I am a Hindu, was and will always be a Hindu. A good Hindu is one who is a good Muslim and respects other religions as well. Regarding this, BJP leader Sadhvi Pragya said that this person is a heretic, who is giving evidence. One who has to give proof cannot be a Hindu.

Birth rate of Hindus and Muslims will be equal by 2028
Let us tell you that during the conclusion of the Kisan Padyatra program in Sehore, Digvijay Singh had said in the town hall on Wednesday that the birth rate of Muslims is continuously decreasing in comparison to Hindus in the country. From 1951 till today the birth rate of Muslims has not decreased as fast as the birth rate of Hindus, but even today the birth rate of Muslims is 2.7 and that of Hindus is 2.3. He had also said that the way the birth rate is decreasing, by 2028 the birth rate of Hindus and Muslims will be equal and at that time the population in the whole country will be stable. Whatever the increase will be till 2028. It won’t happen after that.

The center has done this study on the basis of census conducted every 10 years and National Family Health Survey (NFHS) data. It tells what kind of changes have taken place in the religious population of India.

It has been told in this report that the fertility rate of almost all religious groups, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, has decreased significantly. India has the largest population of Hindus and there is a general perception that the Muslim population is increasing rapidly, but this report, taking into account the data between 1992 and 2015, states that the birth rate (number of children) in all religious groups has decreased.
