Hurricane Ian caused severe devastation in America

Washington. Hurricane Ian Hurricane has killed at least 80 people in the US states of Florida and North Carolina. The storm hit southwestern Florida last week as a Category 4. Media reports said at least 76 people died in Florida due to Ian, while four others died in North Carolina.

In Lee County, Florida alone, the tornado caused 42 deaths. County Sheriff Carmine Marceno told reporters it was difficult to estimate the estimated death toll because the county has seen heavy damage. “This number may go up, I don’t know,” he said. I hope and pray that this does not happen.

More than 1,600 people in Florida have been rescued since Ian arrived on Wednesday afternoon, according to Governor Ron DeSantis’ office. Ian has brought devastating storms, heavy rain and winds, and dangerous flooding both off the coast and inland of Florida. Ian struck South Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane on Friday afternoon and weakened to a tropical cyclone that later dissipated into southern Virginia on Friday.

US President Joe Biden is due to travel to Puerto Rico on Monday to survey damage from Hurricane Fiona before heading to Florida on Wednesday. Hurricane Fiona caused heavy rain, devastating damage and an island-wide blackout across the US territory last month. (talk)
