Heavy machinery of BJP made MCD elections difficult: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that the heavy machinery deployed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the campaign for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections had made it the toughest contest ever fought by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

He accused the BJP of pressurizing the media to spread propaganda. Addressing the newly elected corporators, Kejriwal said that you did positive politics and talked about our work. This election was very, very difficult, he claimed.

Some say it was an easy choice but it is not. The way they conspired against us and used the government machinery against us, it was the most difficult election we have fought so far. Kejriwal said, the heavy machinery deployed by the BJP during the campaign had made this the toughest election ever for AAP.

Referring to the purported video of jailed minister and AAP leader Satyendar Jain, the Chief Minister said that the BJP pressurized the media to spread propaganda against us.

We do positive politics and talk about our work, the AAP chief said. The BJP did not let us discuss our work through fake videos and letters from a jailed thug.

Besides, they pressurized the media, threatened the media and launched a propaganda campaign against us, he alleged.

Every morning at nine o’clock a new fake video used to come. The AAP wrested power from the BJP in the municipal corporation in the national capital on Wednesday. The Kejriwal-led party won 134 out of 250 wards in the MCD, while the BJP won 104.
