UP Yoddha signs first African-origin player ahead of PKL season

PKL Season: Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) franchise, UP Yoddha has signed its first player of African origin, bringing in Kenya’s finest raider James Namaba Kamweti in their squad ahead of PKL Season 8. Kamveti was adjudged the best raider in the Bangabandhu Cup 2021 International tournament in March and with this, he will give strength to UP Yoddha’s attack earlier this year.

Kamveti is very happy with her new move and she shared her thoughts after this agreement saying, “Being a part of UP Yoddha team in PKL is a big step for me. There are very few high quality leagues like this in Kabaddi and being a part of this great league will definitely help me improve my game more and at the same time show my talent in front of new audiences. I look forward to an exciting and enjoyable PKL season with UP Yoddha.”

UP Yoddha’s head coach Jasvir Singh while welcoming and appreciating his new warrior said, “We are very happy to have James as a part of our team. We have seen his performance in the Bangabandhu Cup where he played for his team in raids. Contributed almost 50%. We can’t wait to see what significant contribution he can make for our team. James Kamweti made his debut for Kenya in the Bangabandhu Cup, where he played 6 matches and made a total of 85 raids, due to which his team was able to collect 55 raid points. With James joining the team as the first raider from the African continent for the UP Warriors, the U.P.
