GST council meeting to be held in Kashmir

New Delhi, The next meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council will be held in Srinagar on June 28-29. This is the 47th meeting of the GST Council. Earlier, the 14th meeting of the council was also held in Srinagar. However, this time the meeting to be held in Srinagar is very important as it will discuss the extension of the deadline for GST compensation to be given to the states. Its five-year deadline is ending this month and state governments are demanding an extension. It is worth noting that in July next month, the implementation of GST is going to complete five years.

Earlier, a meeting of the Group of Ministers was held on Friday on the issue of GST, in which changes in GST slabs were discussed. But an opinion could not be formed on this. Now it will be considered in the next meeting of the Group of Ministers. In the meeting of the Group of Ministers, there has also been a demand for extension of the deadline for compensation of GST. Ministers of Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala government attended the meeting.

It is worth mentioning that last year the council had constituted a committee of state ministers under the chairmanship of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Its task is to suggest ways to increase revenue by rationalizing tax slabs, which has not been found so far. However, in the 47th meeting of the GST Council to be held in Srinagar on June 28-29, the decisions taken in the meeting of the Group of Ministers will be approved. It will also consider levying GST on some new things.
