Addressing reporters on the last day of the padyatra in Maharashtra, Ramesh claimed that people were looking for an alternative and wanted to get rid of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He said, “Congress is the only ideology which presents an alternative to BJP and RSS.

Bharat Jodo Yatra is a revolutionary moment for national politics, not a program. Ramesh said that it will take some time to convert the success of the yatra into electoral success. He said the yatra would halt in Maharashtra on November 21 and 22 and move towards Madhya Pradesh on November 23.

The party had earlier said that the yatra would move towards Madhya Pradesh on Sunday and take a night halt at Burhanpur. As per the earlier program of the Congress, the yatra will be given a rest on Monday. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on Monday for the election campaign.

Ramesh thanked the Maharashtra unit leadership of the Congress for making excellent arrangements for the yatra. He said that the state unit of the party would organize six rallies in all the six revenue divisions of the state to succeed in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections through the success of the yatra.

He said Maharashtra has been a stronghold of the Congress and the success of the yatra would ensure that the party’s election symbol ‘hand’ is visible everywhere in the state. Ramesh said that women, youth and farmers are the main participants of the yatra. He said, “In his interactions with Dalit and OBC (Other Backward Classes) organizations, Rahul Gandhi said that there is an urgent need for a caste-based census. ,

He claimed that the yatra has given an inspiring message and a ‘new Congress’ is emerging. “The voices of the party’s critics have now been silenced,” he said, adding that future changes in the organization would be made based on the experiences of the yatra.

Ramesh said issues like economic inequality, polarization and political dictatorship were highlighted during the visit. Maharashtra coordinator for the yatra, Balasaheb Thorat, said that the yatra has covered a distance of over 380 km in the state. He said, “During the padayatra, Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with the people is memorable.”
