Tejashwi Yadav will inaugurate Sonpur fair

Hajipur. The world famous historical and mythological Hariharkshetra Sonepur Mela is ready for the visitors. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav will inaugurate the fair on November 6. This fair, which lasts for about a month, is being organized by the tourism department and district administration.

The construction work of various government and non-government exhibition stalls including the main pandal by the tourism department is going on on a war footing. The construction work of the main pandal is in the final stage.
An official said that the fair was supposed to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, but later it was changed.

After two years of the Corona crisis, the enthusiasm of the local people about organizing the fair is at its peak. Shopkeepers are engaged in decorating their shops in sports and hot clothes market, iron market, wood market. In the fair, continuous monitoring is being done under the direction of DM and SP for electricity, pure drinking water, temporary toilets, night shelter, health, safety and the preparations being done at the ghats.

The bull and horse market of Hariharkshetra Sonpur fair, famous for cattle fair all over the world, is buzzing. Swiss cottages remain the center of attraction at the fair. This fair is spread all around in a distance of about 5 kms. But a day before Kartik Purnima Snan and a day after, this fair expands to an area of ​​about 15 km.

During these three days this fair spreads in the area from the historical Konhara Ghat to Sonpur and Paheleja Ghat Dham along with Hajipur city. During these three days at least 20 to 25 lakh devotees reach here and offer prayers with holy Ganga-Gandak Sangam bath.
