Gold medalist Sumit Antil will get 6 crores and silver medalist Yogesh Kathunia will get 4 crores.

Tokyo Paralympics: Javelin throw para athlete Sumit Antil created history by winning the gold medal in the F-64 event at the Tokyo Paralympics on Monday. Apart from winning the gold, Sumit also made a world record by throwing a throw of 68.55 meters. Apart from this, Yogesh Kathuniya won the silver medal in the F56 event of men’s discus throw on Monday. India has so far won some 7 medals.

Reward rained on Sumit and Yogesh
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced an award of Rs 6 crore to Sumit Antil, who won gold medal in javelin throw with a world record at Tokyo Paralympics and Rs 4 crore to discus thrower Yogesh Kathunia, who won silver medal. According to the statement of the government, the Haryana government will also give government jobs to both.

The Chief Minister said that Antil has won the heart of not only Haryana but the entire country by winning a gold medal. He said that Kathunia has also brought laurels to the country along with the state. After winning the gold, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Antil on the phone and said that his performance would inspire the youth.

The CM tweeted and wrote- “Haryana’s Chhore Nai Lath buried in Paralympics too!’
CM Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted after Sumit won the gold medal, “Haryana’s Chhore Nai Lath buried in Paralympics too! Sumit Antil won the gold medal in the javelin throw sport in Paralympics with a world record by winning the gold medal along with the people of Haryana. I have won the hearts of India. Many congratulations and best wishes to him on this historic performance.”

Rewards announced by tweeting
CM Manohar Lal Khattar tweeted, “For winning the gold medal for the country, the state government will give Rs 6 crore, class one job and other facilities to Lal Sumit Antil of Haryana under its sports policy.” Along with this, he wrote in a tweet, “Haryana player Yogesh Kathunia will be given a prize money of Rs 4 crore on winning the silver medal from the state government and job and other facilities under the Haryana Sports Policy.”

Sumit Antil is a resident of Sonepat in Haryana and Yogesh is a resident of Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar. Both have brought laurels to the country. Till now, 7 medals including 2 gold medals have come in India’s account. The Indian para athletes are performing brilliantly and hopefully some more medals will come for the country.
