United Nations. Regarding global warming, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned that if we do not stop the rising temperature of the earth, then the situation can become very frightening in the coming times. Citing the example of the devastating floods in Pakistan, he said the situation could get worse. This is happening only at 1.2 degree global warming. We’re headed for more than 3 degrees.
Guterres said that emissions should drop by 45 percent before 2030. He said, the world needs clarity on how developed countries will give $100 billion annually. I emphasized the need to double optimization support to $40 billion annually by 2025. Turning to food security, Guterres said, without enough fertilisers, next year’s crop may not be enough to feed the world.
