In Germany’s federal election, the people have rejected the far-left and far-right parties. This election is indicating that Europe will not accept the extreme right and the extreme left in the future. But he would like socialist democracy.

The results of the federal election in Germany are out. The Christian Democratic Union of Germany, the party of one of the world’s most powerful women’s leader Angela Merkel, has lagged behind its main opponent, the Social Democratic Party. However, the election results are indicating that in the formation of the next government in Germany, the two major parties will have to take the support of the third and fourth ranked Green Party and the Free Democratic Party. The formation of a new government may take some time. In such a situation, Germany will be able to get a new chancellor only around Christmas.

Armin Lachett of the Christian Democratic Union and Olaf Scholz of the Social Democratic Party are running for chancellorship. But the key to power lies in the hands of the Green Party, which has one hundred and eighteen seats in the German Parliament, and the Free Democratic Party, which has ninety-two seats. The Green Party and the Social Democratic Party were in alliance from 1998 to 2005. By the way, once again they can be aligned. Although there are ideological differences between the two parties on many issues including climate change and economic issues, it may be difficult to bring them into the alliance.

At present, the situation is that the Social Democratic Party is also trying to form the government. At the same time, Merkel’s party Christian Democratic Union is also not going to give up easily, because both the parties are close in terms of percentage of votes. The Social Democrats got close to twenty-five percent of the vote, while the Christian Democratic Union got twenty-four percent. The Social Democrats got two hundred and six seats, the Christian Democratic Union one hundred and ninety-six. Therefore, the role of the Green Party and the Free Democratic Party in government formation has become important. The Green Party got fifteen percent of the vote and one hundred and eighteen seats, while the Free Democratic Party got eleven percent of the vote and ninety-nine seats.

In Germany’s federal election, the people have rejected the far-left and far-right parties. This election is indicating that Europe will not accept the extreme right and the extreme left in the future. But he would like socialist democracy. Although Europe does not like the China and Russia model of the Left, it favors democratic socialism. Interestingly, the Social Democrats are influenced by leftist ideas and follow the principles of Karl Marx. Socialist democratic groups have long been in a strong position in Germany’s democracy. The Social Democrats were dominant in Germany even before Hitler.

The Christian Democratic Union emerged as the largest party in Germany in the last four elections. This party ruled there by forming a grand alliance. The leader of the Christian Democratic Union and German Chancellor Angela Merkel emerged as a strong global leader. His quality was that he did not hesitate to take confrontation with countries like America on some issues. Taking Germany out of American influence put German interests first. Germany’s foreign policy did not come under American pressure. Germany continued to take independent decisions even about a country like Russia. Therefore, the big problem before the US administration will now be that if the Social Democrats form the government in Germany, then they too will not come under American pressure.

Taking stock of Merkel’s tenure, it is clear that all the parties together worked to strengthen Germany. Merkel formed an alliance and strengthened Germany’s economy. Germany’s economy fared better than Britain, France and Italy during Merkel’s tenure. Germany’s exports only lag behind China and the US. Unemployment was brought under control during Merkel’s tenure and five million additional jobs were provided. Indeed, over the years, Merkel’s foreign policy has managed to keep Germany free from American influence. If the Social Democrats form the government in Germany, German foreign policy will be completely free from American influence. It is bound to have an impact on EU politics as well. Anyway, the influence of the Social Democrats in Europe is increasing.

This has raised concerns of the right wing around the world. Even the right wing operating in Europe is concerned about the growing influence of the Social Democrats. If a Social Democrat government is formed in Germany, then the concerns of the right wing will also increase. Then, against the wishes of America, Merkel completed the construction of Nord Stream-2, a gas pipeline between Russia and Germany. America strongly opposed this gas pipeline. But Germany did not succumb to American pressure. Germany had fixed its diplomacy with Russia in view of its interests. Nord Stream 2 was described by the US as Russian expansionism. Whereas Germany responded by saying that this is a purely business plan.

This pipeline from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea will supply natural gas to Europe. Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline is a lesson for those Asian countries who have failed to build brotherhood and mutual cooperation. These countries could not even build a gas pipeline in the last forty years. An example of this is the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, which sometimes remained in limbo due to US pressure and sometimes due to mutual tension.

Under Merkel’s tenure, Germany has emerged from a very strong position on the global stage. There is no doubt that this country will play an important role in global politics in the times to come. The strengthening of the Social Democrats and the Green Party in Germany is a big message to the world. The politics of Europe will also not remain untouched by this. Because even in the European Union, groups and parties with ideological similarities to the Social Democrats are in a good position. Right now the right wing is on the rise in the world. Human rights violations have emerged as a serious problem. Again, the erosion of democratic values on the global stage is also raising serious questions. Corporate-influenced democracy has raised concerns.

Along with this, the situation of violence and civil war in many countries including Syria and Afghanistan has also increased the problem of refugees in the world. Merkel always adopted a liberal policy regarding refugees. However, right-wing groups active in Europe continued to strongly oppose it. But Germany kept the doors open to all on humanitarian grounds. In such a situation, if the Social Democrats also come to power in Germany, they will also adopt a liberal attitude towards refugees like Merkel.

The strengthening of the Social Democrats in Germany also signals a growing sensitivity in Europe to issues such as unemployment. However, Merkel did a good job of tackling unemployment. But despite this, the choice of unemployed youth has been the Social Democrats. At the same time, the issue of climate change also remained in Germany. Recently there was a flood in Germany. The Green Party getting 15 percent of the vote indicates that German citizens are also taking climate change seriously. The strengthening of the Social Democrats in Germany, Europe’s main economy, is an eye-opener for those South Asian countries, where radical ideology and gross capitalist system are getting stronger.
