Lance Klusener will leave the post of coach of Afghanistan team, will not extend the contract because of this

Lance Klusener Steps Down: Former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusner will step down as the coach of the Afghanistan team after his contract expires on December 31. Klusner was appointed to the post in September 2019. He said he would not renew his contract.

He said in a statement on Monday that after spending two years with the team, I will take away golden memories from here. He said that I will leave the Afghanistan cricket team and its cricket structure and explore the possibilities of the next phase of my coaching career.

Klusner took over as Afghanistan coach in place of Andy Moles. His contract was extended till 2021. Afghanistan played very little cricket in 2020 due to the Corona epidemic, but the team won one of three Tests, three of six ODIs and nine of 14 T20 matches under Klusner’s coach.

What Klusner said after the appointment

Klusner said after his appointment that I am extremely excited and honored to have the opportunity to work with some of the best talent in world cricket. Everyone knows the fearless brand of cricket that Afghanistan plays. I am sure that with a little hard work we can become one of the best teams in the world. Klusner has previously served as the batting coach of Zimbabwe and South Africa and head coach of South Africa’s home team Dolphins as well as bowling coach of the Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians.
