Chandigarh. Dhanik Lal Mandal, former Governor of Haryana and former Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly, has passed away. He was 90 years old. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar condoled the death of Mandal. Mandal breathed his last on Sunday. Dattatreya tweeted, Deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing away of former Haryana Governor Dhanik Lal Mandal. My condolences are with the bereaved family, friends and their supporters. His death is an irreparable loss to the social and political world. I am personally saddened by his death.

Mandal was born on 30 March 1932 in Belha, Madhubani, Bihar. Mandal was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1967, 1969 and 1972. He was the Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1967. Mandal was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977 and served as Minister of State for Home until January 1980. He was elected to the Lok Sabha for the second time in 1980. (Language)
