Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had given a target of 179 runs to CSK in this match. Watson, who came for the opening, while batting unilaterally in this match, got rid of the sweat of the Hyderabad bowlers. He scored a brilliant century in his unbeaten innings at a superb strike rate of 205.2. Watson played an unbeaten 117 runs in 57 balls in this match. His innings included 11 fours and 8 huge sixes. In 2019 too, Watson almost made CSK the champion

In the IPL final of the year 2019, Mumbai Indians (MI) had given a target of 150 runs to CSK. Chasing the score was not easy on this very difficult Hyderabad pitch for batting. None of the CSK batsmen could stay on the crease. However, Shane Watson single-handedly held the innings and took the team almost close to victory. Watson played a brilliant innings of 80 runs in 59 balls in this match. In the end, CSK’s team needed four runs to win off three balls. However, then unfortunately Watson was run out.
