Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed airline Akasa Air has announced an agreement to buy new and more powerful CFM LEAP-1B engines for its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. According to experts, this agreement is believed to be about $ 4.5 billion. This announcement by the company has been made a day after the announcement of the purchase of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from Boeing.

With this purchase and services agreement, Akasa Air will have an innovative and comprehensive maintenance program by CFM from the first day of operation, the company said in a statement. An agreement has been signed with CFM during the ongoing airshow in Dubai. The agreement includes additional engines and longer service life and is estimated to be worth $4.5 billion. The value of the latest agreement in Indian currency is Rs 33,000 crore.

72 aircraft purchased from Boeing

Let us tell you that just a day before this week, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala had ordered 72 Boeing airplanes for his airline company Akasa Air. According to the joint statement issued by Akasa Air and Boeing, the company has ordered 72 airplanes of 737 MAX jets. These include 2 variants 737-8 and the higher-end 737-8-200.

First delivery possible in 2022

Recently, Akasa airline has been issued No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the Ministry of Aviation. According to reports, the goal is to make air travel to more and more people of India through the new airline. Boeing says the first deliveries may begin by 2022 for the Akasa airline to obtain an air operating permit and begin commercial service.

Akasa in the sky from next year

Akasa Air-owned company SNV Aviation had issued a statement last month saying, it is preparing to fly from June-2022. After getting the initial clearance, the lowest cost airline will be launched in the country. The company will present it as an ultra low cost carrier.
