Australia win T20 World Cup: T20 World Cup has got a new champion. Australia won the World Cup by defeating New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final match on Sunday. Australia, a 5-time ODI world champion, has won the T20 World Cup for the first time. The Australian team achieved the target of 173 runs from New Zealand by losing 2 wickets in 18.5 overs. Mitchell Marsh remained unbeaten on 77 and Glenn Maxwell on 28.

The start of Australia, chasing the target, was not good. Captain Aaron Finch was dismissed by Trent Boult after scoring just 5 runs. After the first wicket fell for 15 runs, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner laid the foundation of victory by adding 92 runs for the second wicket. Warner scored 53 runs off 38 balls. He hit 4 fours and 3 sixes.

This is the second half-century of Mitchell Marsh in the current T20 World Cup. Earlier, he had scored 53 runs against West Indies. Against New Zealand, he scored an unbeaten 77 off 50 balls. This is the sixth fifty of his T20 International career.

After losing the toss to play first, the New Zealand team did not have a good start. Daryl Mitchell (11) was dismissed by fast bowler Jose Hazlewood. Martin Guptill (28), known for his fast batting, did not appear in color. He faced 35 balls and hit 3 fours. Captain Kane Williamson scored 85 runs to take the score beyond 170 runs.

Kane Williamson did not score a single half-century in the tournament before the final. But he played a brilliant innings in the final. He faced 48 balls. Hit 10 fours and 3 sixes. After 10 overs, New Zealand’s score was 57 for one wicket. The team made a good score by scoring 115 runs in the last 10 overs. Fast bowler Jos Hazlewood performed brilliantly for Australia. He gave only 16 runs in 4 overs and also took 3 wickets. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc proved to be very expensive. He gave 60 runs in 4 overs.
