Shock to Congress in Assam! Lost Rajya Sabha seat

New Delhi | Rajya Sabha Election: Congress has suffered a setback in Assam. Congress has lost its Rajya Sabha seat in Assam. BJP and UPPL have won both the seats.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said-

This is a historic day for Assam. PM Modi has reduced the areas of AFSPA and in return the people of Assam have given us two Rajya Sabha seats. The Congress and AIUDF alliance was unholy. We defeated them today and will defeat them in the upcoming GMC elections too

BJP wins on one seat, loss to Congress on the other
Rajya Sabha Election: Voting was held yesterday for two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam. BJP candidate Pabitra Margherita won the first seat unopposed. But in the second seat, Ripun Bora was the opposition candidate, while BJP ally was supporting UPPL candidate Ravangavra Narzari.

Congress suspends MLA
Rajya Sabha Election: Counting of votes for the candidate of the Congress-led opposition decreased, as Congress suspended one of its MLAs for wasting his vote by writing ‘1’ instead of ‘1’ on the ballot paper. After which the suspension of Minister Siddiqui Ahmed shocked the prospects of Ripun Bora reaching the Parliament.
