Emergency approval for ‘Kovovax’ vaccine to 12 to 17-year-olds in the country

New Delhi | Corona Vaccine for Children: The way has been cleared for the introduction of corona vaccine for children of 12 to 17 years in the country. The Indian drug regulator has approved limited emergency use of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine ‘Kovovax’ from the Serum Institute of India (SII). The vaccine ‘Kovovax’ has been developed for children aged 12 to 17 years. In such a situation, this will be the fourth corona vaccine available for people below 18 years of age in the country.

more than 90 percent effective
Corona Vaccine for Children: Giving information in this regard, SII CEO Adar Poonawalla said that Kovovax of Serum Institute of India has been granted emergency use authorization by DGCI for adults and children above 12 years of age. Novavax has demonstrated over 90 percent efficacy in global trials.

‘Covaxin’ being applied to 15-18 year olds
Regarding this vaccine, Prakash Kumar Singh, Director, Serum Institute, says that after two studies on about 2707 children aged 12 to 17 years, it was found that Kovovax is more effective, safer vaccine producing more immunity. Let us tell you that Bharat Biotech’s vaccine ‘Covaxin’ is being used in India for adolescents of 15-18 years.

Corona’s latest situation in the country so far
In the last 24 hours, 4 thousand 575 new cases of corona infection have been reported in the country and 145 people have died. Meanwhile, 7 thousand 416 corona patients have recovered and returned home. After which the number of active cases has also come down from 50 thousand to 46,962. Let us tell you that till Tuesday, a total of 179 crore 33 lakh 99 thousand 555 doses of corona vaccine have been given across the country.
