Electric vehicle demand increased in Tier 1 cities, this city topped the list

Electric Vehicles: A recent report has revealed that the demand for electric vehicles has skyrocketed amid high fuel prices as well as rising pollution levels. Tier 1 cities are leading the trend of electric vehicles. Delhi witnessed the highest demand for both e-scooters and e-cars among all Tier 1 cities. This increase in demand is also in line with the government’s ambition to move towards cleaner fuels.

According to Just Dial Consumer Insights, according to media reports, the demand for e-scooters saw the highest year-on-year growth of 220.7 per cent, while demand for e-cars was 132.4 per cent, e-motorcycles 115.3 per cent and e-cycles. The demand was at 66.8 percent.

Among Tier 1 cities, Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru saw the highest demand for e-scooters, followed by Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata. Talking about Tier 2 cities, Mysore, Indore, Jaipur, Surat, Agra, Jodhpur, Sangli, Vadodara, Nashik and Chandigarh were among the top-10 in terms of demand for e-scooters. The top three Tier 1 cities in terms of demand for electric cars were Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. It is followed by Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata.

However, the trend reversed when it came to the demand for e-motorcycles, where Tier 2 cities outperformed Tier 1 cities. Surat, Rajkot, Amravati, Nagpur, Vijayawada, Salem, Kolhapur, Pondicherry, Varanasi and Bhavnagar were the top-10 tier-2 cities, while the tier-1 cities saw the highest demand in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.

The report also revealed that the luxury segment has also witnessed an increase in demand. Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche saw an increase in demand. Bugatti was the most searched brand and witnessed 167 per cent growth in demand this festive season driven primarily by Delhi, Ahmedabad and Pune.
