Petrol Diesel Prices : In the next year i.e. 2022, the assembly elections of 7 states are to be held in the country. In such a situation, to woo their voters, the states have started considering making a big announcement of reduction in taxes levied by them on petrol-diesel.
The preparations of two states have come to the fore in this regard. The special thing is that both these states are BJP ruled. In this, the Chief Minister of Karnataka had indicated only last week that he is considering reducing cess and sales tax on it. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called a meeting of the Finance Department on Thursday and discussed it.
Electoral states can reduce VAT
The tenure of Chief Ministers in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa is ending at the beginning of next year itself. In such a situation, it is believed that all the BJP ruled states already want to be one step ahead among the voters by reducing the prices of petrol and diesel in their states.
Tax burden for electoral gains
The central government has already argued that states should start reducing the tax burden on these things. In such a situation, there is also every possibility that in order to take electoral advantage, he also reduces the tax of the Center after the reduction in prices in his ruled states.
After the elections of 5 states, assembly elections are also to be held in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh in the country.
