Effect of ‘Khaki’ on ‘Khaki’

If you look at all the content of the OTT platform, it will be difficult to decide whether it is the world of entertainment or crime. Go to any OTT platform, Foreign web series are also like this and also indigenous web series of Indian languages. Many of them seem to glorify the gruesome bloodshed. But there are some among them who have the artistry of filmmaking despite the crime and who also give a message.

life behind the scenes

Most of the web series that have come so far on all OTT platforms are based on crime, bloodshed, success or failure of the police. The same is the case with the films coming on these platforms. They too seem guilt-ridden and stricken. To the extent that crime is everything, nothing else can be thought of. If you look at all the content of all the OTT platforms, it will be difficult to decide whether this is the world of entertainment or crime. Go to any OTT platform, foreign web series are also like this and also indigenous web series of Indian languages. Many of them seem to glorify the gruesome bloodshed. But there are some among them who have the artistry of filmmaking despite the crime and who also give a message.

The first season of ‘Delhi Crime’ can be kept in this category. The series was based on the Nirbhaya case that created a wave of protests across the country, in which the police investigation was shown exactly as it is. Without any glamour. Then ‘Scam 92’ can be counted which was based on the exploits of Harshad Mehta and which gave us an actor like Prateek Gandhi. It shows white collar crimes by educated and knowledgeable people who take advantage of the loopholes in our banking system. It was based on the book The Scam, Who Win, Who Lost, Who Got Away by Sucheta Dalal and Debasish Basu. This web series, directed by Hansal Mehta, without being loud, tells in a very simple and simple way how this scandal was done and for what reasons it was possible. A great feature of this was the thrill of investigative journalism of Shreya Dhanwantri who became Sucheta Dalal. There is always a thrill in real journalism beyond prejudices that does not need the support of any background music or any special effects.

After a long time, there is again talk of a web series in the same category. This is ‘Khaki, The Bihar Chapter.’ IPS Amit Lodha, a resident of Rajasthan, was once posted in Bihar. He wrote a book titled ‘Bihar Diaries’ on his experiences there. This web series is made on the same. Its discussion has also intensified because after its release, a case has been registered against Amit Lodha in Bihar. In fact, the story of ‘Khaki, The Bihar Chapter’ is from the time when Lalu Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi were in power. Many characters of this series have been shown to be associated with power. After its release on Netflix, Amit Lodha has been accused of not taking any permission to write this book and instead of making a web series on it, he took lakhs of rupees through his wife.

There are many such things in this web series which are not new to us, but the way of their presentation has made them new. This is Neeraj Pandey’s masterpiece. The same Neeraj Pandey whom we know for films like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Baby’, ‘Special Chabbis’, ‘Naam Shabana’, ‘Aiyaary’ and ‘MS Dhoni, The Untold Story’. He is one of the finest filmmakers of Bollywood who is considered to be a guarantee of success to a large extent. He wants to film stories of confrontation between big criminals and the police of different states of the country. It has started from Bihar. And already in the first season there has been a case. Let me tell you, till Neeraj Pandey was making films on fictional crime stories, everything was fine, but as soon as he started talking about the ground, things went wrong. Sometimes life gets entangled with the screen like this too. But just like ‘Scam 92’ saw Prateek Gandhi grow in career, Karan Tacker and Avinash Tiwari are expected to grow from this series.
