ED raids Jauhar University

Lucknow, Samajwadi Party’s veteran leader Azam Khan’s troubles do not seem to be diminishing. Azam Khan, who is in jail, has got bail from the courts in most of the cases but he has not been able to be released from jail. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided the Jauhar University built by him. The ED team has reached the campus of Jauhar University in Rampur from Lucknow for investigation. The ED team has gone to Azam Khan’s university along with Tehsildar Pramod Kumar. Also there is a revenue team.

It is being told that the revenue team has arrived to investigate the matter of two hundred and fifty bighas of enemy property. Lucknow’s ED team and local revenue officials were present on the spot. Significantly, the ED had sought a report from the Collector on Azam Khan and other cases related to him. Now both the ED team and the officials of Rampur Revenue Department are investigating the enemy property in the university.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court had granted interim bail to Azam Khan in the enemy property grab case. Justice Rahul Chaturvedi said in his direction that the interim bail of Azam Khan would be converted into regular bail after the exercise of taking possession of the land is completed to the satisfaction of the District Magistrate Rampur. Earlier, he had got bail in many cases. A fresh case was registered against him before he was granted bail in the last case. The Supreme Court had expressed displeasure over such cases against him.
