Delhi’s LG gave a blow to the government

New Delhi. The ongoing tussle between Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and the Delhi government has now reached a new height. The Lieutenant Governor has sacked Jasmin Shah, vice-chairman of Delhi Government’s think tank Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission ie DDDC. The Delhi Dialogue and Development Commission functions in much the same way as the NITI Aayog does for the central government. The Lieutenant Governor has sacked Shah in the matter of misuse of the post.

Jasmin Shah was accused of using government office for political purposes. The lieutenant governor, in an order issued on Thursday evening, barred Shah from using his office. The Civil Lines SDM sealed the DDDC office late last night on the orders of the Planning Department of Delhi Government. Other facilities including government vehicle have also been withdrawn from them with effect.

A complaint was filed against Shah by BJP MP Pravesh Verma. Pravesh Verma had filed a complaint against Jasmin Shah for working as a spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party while holding a government position and for misuse of office. After this, the Lieutenant Governor had issued a show cause notice to Shah. The order of his dismissal has been issued a month after the notice was issued.
