Hyderabad. A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Sunday reached the Banjara Hills residence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and MLC Kavita for questioning her in connection with the Delhi Excise scam. Specifically, Kavita’s name has been mentioned in a remand report filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a Delhi court on alleged kickbacks in the scam.
CBI can interrogate Kavita in this regard. The CBI has sought an explanation from Kavita by giving notice under section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Kavita, who received the notice from the CBI, said she would be available from December 11 to 15, except December 13.
Kavita’s statement is expected to be recorded by the CBI officials. Following the CBI probe into the Delhi liquor scam, police have made heavy security arrangements in the areas around Kavita’s residence.
