Tulsi Tanti, popularly known as the ‘Wind Man’ of India and the founder of Suzlon Energy, passed away today saying goodbye to this world. He died of a heart attack. Late night the company informed the stock market about this. Born in 1958 in Rajkot, Gujarat, Tulsi Tanti breathed her last at the age of 64. He was one of the promoters of Suzlon Energy, which he founded in 1995. The credit for starting the first wind power mill in the country goes to Suzlon Energy Limited.

Let us tell you that Tulsi Tanti has passed away at a time when the company announced the rights issue. The company is planning to raise around Rs 1,200 crore through a rights issue of 240 crore shares. In September last year, the board of directors of Suzlon Energy had approved the proposal for the rights issue. With the rights issue, only the existing shareholders will have the right to buy these shares. The company will offer 240 crore shares of face value of Rs 2 each at an issue price of Rs 5 per share. Suzlon Energy announced the opening of its Rs 1,200 crore rights issue on October 11, 2022. The market cap of Suzlon Energy is Rs 8,535.90 crore.

Suzlon Energy born due to power shortage

Tulsi Tanti was a cloth merchant. But due to lack of power, there was a considerable reduction in production. That is why he ventured into wind power generation in 1995 to meet the energy needs of the textile company and founded Suzlon Energy, the country’s largest wind power company. 27 years ago today he started a windmill to stabilize the cost of electricity in his textile project. In these 27 years, the company has installed wind farms of 19 GW capacity in 17 countries of the country and the world.

In the beginning there were cloth merchants

It is worth mentioning that Tulsibhai, originally from Rajkot, chose Ahmedabad for business and finally settled in Pune in 2004. His son Pranav and daughter Nidhi are settled in America.
