David Warner Controversy: Australian cricketer David Warner made a shot in the semi-final against Pakistan, which did not go down well with all the cricket legends and there has been a debate on social media about it. Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir and star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have also joined this debate. Gambhir has targeted all the people including former Australian cricketer Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting regarding this matter by tweeting.
What is the whole matter?
This incident happened in the eighth over of the semi-final match played between Australia and Pakistan. When spinner Mohammad Hafeez came to bowl, he missed the ball and David Warner, taking advantage of this, went ahead and hit a long six after two taps. According to ICC rules, this ball was a no ball. Many veterans have described this shot of Warner as contrary to the spirit of the game and fans on social media are also expressing their opinion about it.
Gambhir targets Australian legends
Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir made a tweet describing this shot of David Warner as shameful. He wrote, “Shoddy display of the spirit of the game by Warner! Shameful. What do you say Ashwin?”
What an absolutely pathetic display of spirit of the game by Warner! #Shameful What say @ashwinravi99, pic.twitter.com/wVrssqOENW

In fact, during the IPL, Ravichandran Ashwin had dismissed a batsman in a ‘Mankad’ manner during the match. When Ashwin was going to throw the ball, the batsman standing at the non-strike end went ahead of the crease and he ran him out. Although it was fine according to the rules, but then all the veterans had said against the spirit of the game and Ashwin was criticized a lot. Especially former Australia captain Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne had strongly criticized Ashwin.
Bad take Gautam.

In such a situation, when Warner did this, Gautam Gambhir could not stop himself and he called this act of Warner shameful. All the veterans, including Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting, have remained silent on this matter, due to this serious flare-up. Although the Australian journalist was enraged by Gambhir’s tweet, Ashwin gave him a befitting reply.
His point is that if this is right, that was right. If that was wrong , this is wrong too. Fair assessment? @plalor

Australian journalist Peter Lalor was furious at Gautam Gambhir’s tweet and replied, “You raised the wrong issue Gautam.” On this Ashwin gave a befitting reply. Ashwin replied to Lalor, “He (Gambhir) means to say that if it is right, then he was also right. If he was wrong, then it is also wrong. Fair assessment?”
