Cricketers will play in Delhi’s ‘dangerous’ air, these teams will compete

Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: The four quarter-finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament will begin in Delhi from Thursday with 88 domestic cricketers facing each other in the air of the national capital’s “dangerous level”. A toxic haze has engulfed Delhi since Diwali, with officials in the NCR region working tirelessly to bring down the pollution levels.

Despite such toxic air, the pre-quarterfinals of this domestic T20 championship were conducted without any noise at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and Air Force Ground in Palam. The quarterfinals are also to be held in Delhi, two matches will be played at each venue, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

There will be a match between Vidarbha and Rajasthan

Rajasthan team will take on their stronger rival Vidarbha. Vidarbha opener Atharva Tayde and skipper Akshay Wadkar are scoring runs and both will be looking to score runs against the Rajasthan attack which includes pacer Tanveer-ul-Haq and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi.

The role of middle-order batsmen Shubman Dubey and Jitesh Sharma will also be important. Deepak Hooda has been the main player in the batting for Rajasthan and he has helped the team at every opportunity. Hooda, who plays for Rajasthan except Baroda, will need the help of captain Ashok Maneria, Mahipal Lomror and others.

In another match, defending champions Tamil Nadu will face Kerala. Vijay Shankar-led Tamil Nadu team is doing well apart from a shocking defeat against Goa, the winners of Group I. The team will need to do their best against the team led by Sanju Samson. However, he will not get the services of B undefeated who has been selected for India A team.

At the same time, the match between Karnataka and Bengal is also expected to be interesting. Karnataka team will be desperate to avenge the defeat against Bengal in Guwahati in the Elite B group match. Karnataka made it to the quarterfinals by defeating Saurashtra in the pre-quarters while Bengal qualified directly.

Experienced Manish Pandey and Karun Nair would like to put up a great performance. Along with this, the role of opener Rohan Kadam and middle-order batsmen Anirudh Joshi and Abhinav Manohar will also be important, who led the team to victory in the pre-quarters. On the other hand, in the absence of experienced Abhimanyu Easwaran, other Bengal batsmen will have to perform brilliantly.

In the fourth quarterfinal, Gujarat team is considered strong against Hyderabad but they have to be cautious as the South team can make a difference. The Rajasthan vs Vidarbha match will start at 8.30 am at Air Force Ground in Palam, while the second match will be played between Gujarat and Hyderabad at 1 pm. The first match will be played between Tamil Nadu vs Kerala at Arun Jaitley Stadium while the second match will be played between Bengal and Karnataka.
