In a report by ABC channel, Jamie Mitchell (sexual abuse victim) has told that he was sexually abused by a team official when he was on tour of India and Sri Lanka to play Under-19 cricket tournament. Mitchell said in a statement issued to the Australian media, ‘I was sexually abused in Colombo on the last night of the India-Sri Lanka tour in 1985. Instead of highlighting my cricketing life, this tour brought me trauma and stress for many years.

The statement further said, ‘Cricket Australia has a chance to make a difference by focusing on this issue and doing the right thing. Here I mean transparency. I want correct answers to many questions. I am going to send a list of questions to Cricket Australia.

Cricket Australia has issued a statement on this matter of sexual abuse, saying, ‘We admire the courage of Jamie Mitchell. We will fully support the police action. Incidents of sexual abuse of any kind will not be tolerated.

Former captain and then national team selector Greg Chappell said on this matter that he was surprised by this allegation and wanted Cricket Australia to help the victim on the basis of human values ​​instead of defending the organization in this matter.
