Corona Vaccine: Corona Vaccine is believed to be the biggest weapon in the war against the Corona Virus pandemic. In India too, a rapid vaccination campaign (Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign) is going on to defeat the epidemic and to give protection to the people from Kovid-19 infection. The vaccines that are currently being used the most for vaccination in the country include Kovashield and Covaxin. Recently, emergency use of Covaxin has been approved by the Subject Advisory Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Meanwhile, a study has revealed that both doses of Bharat Biotech’s corona virus vaccine ‘Covaxin’ are 50 percent effective in symptomatic patients of corona. This claim has been made in the Real World Assessment of Indian Vaccines published in the Lancet Infectious Disease Journal. Whereas earlier, in a peer-review published in The Lancet, Covaxin was said to be effective against corona and it was said that this vaccine is about 77.8 percent effective in symptomatic patients. Also it does not have any serious effect.

New study done on 2714 health workers

A new study has been done at AIIMS, Delhi, in which about 2714 health workers infected with corona were included. All these were patients with symptoms of corona. RT-PCR test was also done for their study. This study was done between April 15 and May 15, when the dangerous variant of Corona in India was wreaked by Delta. In 80 percent of the cases of Kovid-19, only the delta variant was found.

What is Covaxin?

Let us tell you that ‘Covaxin’ is an indigenous corona vaccine. It has been prepared by Bharat Biotech in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and National Institute of Virology (NIV). In January this year itself, the Government of India had approved the emergency use of Covaxin. Whereas after a long wait, the World Health Organization has approved the emergency use of this vaccine. Two doses of Covaxin are given to people above 18 years of age.
