Many developed and wealthy countries have decided to give booster doses against Kovid-19. The Central Government said on the previous day that the booster dose of Kovid-19 (Covid-19) is not a central topic in the scientific discussion as well as in the public health sector at this time and getting two doses is the main priority. Responding to the question in a press briefing, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director General Dr Balram Bhargava said that giving both the doses is extremely important and there should be no hindrance in it.

ICMR DG Dr. Balram Bhargava said on Thursday that it has been found in scientific research that the antibodies of the human body start decreasing after some time after both the doses of the vaccine. There are other forms of immunity against the infection that may persist. He said that two-dose vaccine coverage of Corona will be the top priority in the country. He said that many agencies have recommended that antibody levels should not be measured, but the important understanding is that complete vaccination of both doses is absolutely essential and should not be interrupted in any way.

Full immunization of corona vaccine a major priority

Bhargava’s statement comes at a time when the country’s first dose vaccination coverage has reached 62 per cent and 20 per cent of the eligible adult population has been fully vaccinated. We have to remember one thing very clearly, that booster doses are not a central topic in scientific discussion at this time. A major priority is to achieve full two-dose vaccination. Many agencies state that antibody levels should not be measured because you may have cellular immunity, antibody immunity or mucosal immunity that persists. Complete vaccination of both doses is very necessary and there should be no doubt in that thinking.

On Thursday, the Health Ministry informed that 1,595 PSA plants producing health oxygen have been commissioned, and these plants are currently providing 2,088 metric tonnes of health oxygen to hospitals across the country.

First dose given in five states and union territories

So far, at least the first dose of the vaccine has been administered to the entire adult population of five states and union territories of Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Chandigarh and Lakshadweep. According to the data, the average daily dose of vaccine given in a month has increased from 19.69 lakh in May to 39.89 lakh in June, then 43.41 lakh in July and 59.19 lakh in August. Bhushan said that the average daily vaccination in the first 15 days of September has been 74.40 lakh per day.

3621 PSA plants to be set up

Rajesh Bhushan, Health Secretary, Ministry of Health said that 3,631 PSA plants are being set up across the country, when all these become operational, we will have availability of 4,571 metric tonnes of medical oxygen. 1,491 PSA plants are being commissioned from central resources, which will give us 2,281 metric tonnes of medical oxygen. From State and other resources – CSR Fund, Local Urban Body Fund and MPLAD Fund – 2,140 PSAs are being commissioned; Once they are completed, 2,289 metric tonnes of medical oxygen will be available.

67.79 percent of the total cases of corona in Kerala

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that out of the total cases of Kovid-19 reported in the country last week, 67.79 percent were from Kerala. It is the only state with close to 2 lakh under-treatment patients. Rajesh Bhushan said that in 34 districts of India, the weekly infection rate is more than 10 percent while in 32 districts it is between 5-10 percent.
