Controversy again in Karnataka Congress, DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah face to face before Bharat Jodo Yatra

Bharat Jodo Yatra is set to enter Karnataka for 22 days on 30th September. But all is not well in Karnataka Congress.

Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are fighting for supremacy. DK Shivakumar says that some people in the party are not supporting enough for the success of the Yatra. Insiders say that the Siddaramaiah camp has denied giving any credit to the state Congress president. Congress’s Bharat Jodi Yatra is going to enter Karnataka for 22 days on 30 September. In such a situation, the rift between the party’s state chief DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has again raised the risk of lack of unity in the state unit.

Elections to be held in Karnataka next year

Assembly elections are to be held in Karnataka along with Rajasthan next year. Congress workers participating under Bharat Jodo Yatra will spend the longest time in Karnataka. He will stay here for 22 days. But factions of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) seem to be struggling to unite. DK Shivakumar pulled up the party colleagues for allegedly not taking steps to make the yatra a success.

Target on Siddaramaiah faction

In a meeting on Friday, Shivakumar targeted the Siddaramaiah faction. He said that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed a separate team headed by Sunil (political strategist Sunil Kanungolu) to conduct political analysis on a daily basis. There are around 600 people in all the constituencies who are looking at all the possible candidates of the Congress. We may or may not know them. They are looking at all the sitting, defeated and aspiring MLAs.

DK Shivakumar made allegations

Taking the name of former state Congress chief RV Deshpande, DK Shivakumar said, I asked Deshpande to bring 5,000 people from his constituency for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He (Deshpande) said that he cannot get people as his constituency is too far away. Shivakumar said that can’t we do this for just one day for the sake of Rahul Gandhi?
