Odisha Govt on Indian Hockey: The Odisha government has announced to sponsor the Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams, which performed brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics, for the next 10 years. CM Naveen Patnaik is very happy with the performance of hockey players in Tokyo Olympics and hence he has taken this decision. The Odisha government has been sponsoring Indian hockey teams since 2018.

On Tuesday, the CM honored the players of both the teams. He shared some pictures of the ceremony on Twitter. “Our teams created history with their best performance in the Tokyo Olympics,” Patnaik said after handing over a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to each player. announced. On this occasion, both the teams presented the players’ signature jerseys to the Chief Minister. Patnaik also felicitated Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra for giving a new direction to the sport during his tenure at Hockey India. A grand welcome was given to the players in Odisha. The Sports Minister of the state himself reached Bhubaneswar airport to pick up the players. Posters, banners and hoardings were put up across the city to welcome the players. The players were welcomed with flowers and tika. Not only this, when the players were going for the CM’s program, there was a crowd of people on both sides of the road.
Hockey team captain praised CM
Indian men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh on Tuesday said that his bronze medal won at the Tokyo Olympics is a gift to the nation from Odisha Chief Minister and a staunch supporter of the sport, Naveen Patnaik. Manpreet said, “As a player, we may have won a bronze medal, but the truth is that it is India’s medal. This is a gift to the nation from Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, with whose vision and encouragement we have been able to fulfill our dream of winning an Olympic medal after 41 years.
The Indian men’s hockey team created history by winning the bronze medal after 41 years while performing brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics. Apart from this, the women’s hockey team also performed brilliantly, but missed out on the medal.
