Checkbooks of these three banks will be closed from October 1, apply for new ones as soon as possible

New Delhi: Checkbook and MICR code of three banks will be invalid from October 1. These banks are Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC), United Bank of India and Allahabad Bank.

Let us inform that on 1 April 2020, Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India were merged with Punjab National Bank (PNB). Now everything from the customer to the branch of both the banks belong to PNB. At the same time, Allahabad Bank has been merged with Indian Bank. This merger has come into effect from 1 April 2020.

Indian Bank had informed in a tweet recently that the MICR code and checkbook of the erstwhile Allahabad Bank are valid only till 30 September 2021. In order to continue banking transactions without any interruption, customers should collect fresh check books before 1 October 2021.

According to Indian Bank, customers can get new checkbooks from the nearest branch. Apart from this, you can also apply through Internet Banking (Internet Banking / Online Banking) or Mobile Banking.

PNB said through social media that, “Old check books of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India (UBI) will be closed from October 1, 2021. Please replace the old check book of OBC and UBI with the new one of Punjab National.” Replace with check book. This check book will come with updated IFSC code and MIRC of PNB.”

Punjab National Bank has said that the new check book can be applied for through ATM, Internet Banking or PNB One.
