CDS General Bipin Rawat was awarded ‘Padma Vibhushan’ posthumously, also honored
New Delhi | Padma Vibhushan to Bipin Rawat: Late General Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defense Staff, was awarded Padma Vibhushan posthumously by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday. The late General’s daughters Kritika and Tarini received this honor at the hands of the President at a program held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Padma Vibhushan to Bipin Rawat: Significantly, in December 2021 last year, many officers including Bipin Rawat and his wife died in a helicopter accident in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. General Rawat’s wife Madhulika, his defense advisor Brigadier LS Lidar, Staff Officer to the Chief of Defense Staff Lt Col Harjinder Singh and decorated pilot Group Captain Varun Singh died in this horrific accident.
