CBI has registered a ‘fake’ case: Sisodia

New Delhi. Ahead of his questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Excise case, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday claimed that the case against him was “fake” and linked the development to the election campaign in Gujarat. .

Supporting the deputy chief minister, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal said efforts were being made to arrest Sisodia to stop him from campaigning in Gujarat. Before leaving for the CBI office, Sisodia took her mother’s blessings at her Mathura Road residence. On his way to the CBI office, many party leaders and workers were present in Sisodia’s convoy amid patriotic music.

Sisodia stopped at two places on his way to the CBI office, addressing AAP workers at the party headquarters and said he was not afraid of arrest. He also visited Rajghat, the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi. He told AAP workers, I am cooperating fully in the investigation and I am not afraid of being arrested. The CBI is questioning Sisodia in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of the now defunct Excise Policy 2021-22.

Kejriwal termed the case against the Deputy Chief Minister as ‘fake’. Kejriwal tweeted, “Nothing was found in the raids at Manish’s residence and his bank locker. The case against him is completely bogus. He had to go to Gujarat for election campaign, so he is being arrested but campaigning will not stop. Everyone in Gujarat is campaigning for AAP.

Sisodia also linked his interrogation to the Gujarat elections and said that even after he is jailed, the election campaign in the state will not stop. Sisodia said that every Gujarati has now woken up and everyone there is campaigning for good schools, hospitals, jobs and electricity.
